The center is the Imperial Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden city, where the Ming and Qing emperors lived and handled state affairs.
West of the Imperial Palace Museum is a big body of water of Beijing, which is separated into several parts. In the center of the city, they are the Beihai Lake (Where the Beihai Park is located), the Nanhai Lake (Where foreign country's leaders or politicians are usually be received ), the West Lake, the Qianhai Lake and the Houhai Lake, (they are be called shichahai Lake in group, famous for the wonderful night life with all sorts of bars along the lake ). The Beihai Lake, Nanhai Lake, the shichahai Lake are connected to each other and also there is waterway or water channel linked to the the Kunming Lake of the Summer Palace on the north.
The history of Beijing and the real life of old Beijingers are hiden behind the splendid imperial houses and the old gray courtyards.
The Tiantan Park is on the south, where emperors offered his sacrifices to the God of Heaven and pray for a good harvest.
