乌(wū)

It is clearly that “乌” is also a kind of bird. Compared with the character “鸟”, it looses a “丶” which representing “eyes ” in the head. What an ugly bird it looks without eyes. In China a crow is regarded as an ugly and inauspicious bird. It is an indication of bad luck when one sees a crow in the morning. As the color of crows are “black” or “dark brown”, the character “乌” was used to refer to “black” or “dark brown”.
